This proposal for a new house is positioned on an elevated section of farmland with long views to the south and west.  It has been orientated to take advantage of the views and natural light.

In order to reduce the overall mass of a singular building, two separate volumes have been created, with the open-plan living area situated beneath a mono-pitched roof to the front; and the bedrooms, utility and bathrooms accommodated behind.

The burnt timber and contrasting natural larch cladding serve to recess the house in its setting adjacent to a mature forest, and the corrugated metal roof is a nod to the strong farming heritage of the local area.
