COMMUNITY HUB | CULBOKIE
Wild Studio Architecture + Design were invited, as part of a limited competition, to design a new community hub building in Culbokie village centre. Intended as a phased construction, the brief asked for a small cafe, business rental space, a health room, potting shed and flexible community space.
The proposal split the building into two pitched roof elements with a link space between to create a courtyard arrangement facing the village green. Finishes included black Thermopine cladding, treated larch cladding, and zinc standing seam roofing. With a focus on sustainability, a cycle maintenance area, kitchen garden, bee / insect hotels as well as an insect-friendly wildflower garden were also part of the overall design.
